My telegram of 14th January
Hong Kong lelegraph asks me
to submit following message of loyalty. Begins. On
attaining it: Jubilee Hong Kong Telegraph Kewspaper
recalls its establishment auspiciously synchronised
with visit to this Colony of His Majesty The Ling
then a young Midshipman and begs to convey its loyal
greetings with hope that His Majesty long be spared
contime his beneficent reign. Ends. On 12th May
I replied to a personal letter from Sir Clive Wigram
that I considered it inadvisable to re-open question
of messages from King and had informed paper that
nothing further could be done but nevertheless His
Majesty may graciously wish simply acknowledge above
message from paper.
